E-commerce has experienced tremendous growth in China over the past few years, where we’ve witnessed the emergence of online portals, search engines, community forums, online travel agencies, auction houses, and gaming websites.  This fast developing e-commerce phenomenon has attracted the interest of researchers from both within and outside of China.  The aim for the pre-conference research symposium is for Chinese and international researchers interested in Chinese e-commerce issues to collaborate and share their research findings.  We welcome both research papers and panel proposals.

The symposium is to create a collaborative environment for developing and improving research ideas aiming at high-quality journal papers.

Topics

This symposium is intended to provide a forum for researchers to present and discuss e-commerce issues from the particular perspective of a Chinese background. All paper or panel proposal submissions need to address some issue that is specific to the Chinese setting. Suggested specific topics regarding issues in China include but are not restricted to the following:

·         Privacy, security, and trust issues in e-commerce

·         E-commerce business models

·         Opportunities and challenges in e-commerce in China for both Chinese and international businesses

·         E-government

·         Internet banking

·         E-payment and online financial services

·         Virtual money in China

·         Internet gaming and the second life

·         Cultural influence in e-business adoption in China

·         Venture capitals in China’s e-commerce market

·         Online marketing and advertising

·         E-market structure and integration

·         The applications of broadband wireless and beyond 3G (B3G) in e-commerce

·         Value-added network services

Paper Submission Instructions

All submissions must be in English, and the file must be submitted in Microsoft Word .DOC or PDF directly email to zhangxi.lin@ttu.edu or binwang@utpa.edu. Length of submissions, including all contents, is limited to 8 single-spaced, 8.5” by 11” pages with Times New Roman, 12-point font, and 1” margins on all sides. Selection for presentation at the workshop will be based on originality, contribution to the field, and workshop interest. An important criterion in evaluating the submission is the preference for an issue-driven approach, i.e., papers that focus on pure technical issues but are not clearly relevant to solving business problems are less likely to be accepted.

There will be three paper sessions and one discussion panel.
